Responsible Visitor Charter

As part of our Green Credentials we encourage our guests to consider how their actions, whilst staying here, might impact on the environment.

To this end we would like to make some small suggestions including trips that don't need a car:

  • Recycle as much as possible in the bin provided.

  • All food waste, if put in the small green container, will be composted

  • We have provided leaflets of local pubs and restaurants, some of which are in cycling distance - we may be able to provide bicycles

  • There is an award winning farm shop in Semer called Hollow Trees where you can buy locally grown seasonal produce and home grown meat.

  • There are footpaths close by including a good circular walk to Kersey. Local maps are provided.

  • Groton Wood, part of which is ancient forest, can be seen across the fields, is managed by Suffolk Wildlife Trust. The entrance is about 2 miles by road.

  • There is a re-usable shopping bag on the coat hooks to avoid bringing home plastic bags.

  • Our guests are welcome to explore the farm to see how the crops are grown. There are large areas set aside for conservation which provide habitat for a range of wildlife.
